Helen of Troy

Illustration in Art Nouveau style of “Helen”.
The first record of Helens name appears in the poems of Homer. Her abduction by Paris brought about the Trojan War. Homer paints a melancholic, lonely picture of Helen in Troy. She is filled with self-distaste and regret for what she has caused; by the end of the war, the Trojans have come to hate her.

In Hellenic myths she was the daughter of Leda and Zeus, born out of an egg. Leda has been seduced by Zeus, who appeard in a swan’s likeness. This way, Helen had been fathered.
In greek they call her “Ελένη [Eleni]”, in spanish and german “Helena”.
